This Vintage Kelvin And Hughes Limited Sextant precisely determines a ship’s location at sea by measuring angles between celestial bodies like the sun, moon, and stars, and the horizon.
The Kelvin and Hughes company was officially formed in 1946, a year after the end of World War II.
The sextant features a clamp, micrometer drum, shade glasses, and horizon mirror. Additionally, the telescope and arc bear the model number and the words “Made in England, H. Hughes & Son Ltd. London.”
The box lid contains a certificate signed by the chief inspector on July 14, 1959, confirming the sextant’s satisfactory condition.
Despite some visible wear in the photos, this item remains in great overall condition. Display this vintage masterpiece in your office, den, or alongside other nautical artifacts to add a touch of maritime history to your space.
