Description
Frederick Grinell is the pioneer of modern fire safety, having patented over 40 improvements to the automatic fire sprinkler system in his career. In 1892, he formed his own company, which merged a few other companies together, naming it the General Fire Extinguisher Company in Providence, Rhode Island. This listing is for a set of two water pressure gauges that were installed in 1917 and 1918 respectively. The company underwent a name change in 1919, going by Grinell Co. After many sales and mergers, the Grinell name still lives on today in the worlds largest fire safety company, SimplexGrinell.
One of our favorite customers over the course of our business ownership was an aficionado of american pressure gauges, and these are no different. Mounting two beautiful brass gauges onto a piece of wood for display, these are ready to be seen by the world again. The wood measures about 21″ in length and 8.75″ in height.
