Small binnacles were useful for small vessels or yachts, where the full-sized binnacle would be out of place. The company was founded in 1915 by S. Saura in Shiogama, Miyagi. Incorporated as Saura Works until 1953, when the company became the Saura Keiki Seisakusho Co., Ltd. and took over all previous business of Saura Works.
