Here is a Vintage Lilley & Gillie Black Aneroid Barometer that was made in North Shields England. An aneroid barometer is an instrument used for measuring air pressure as a method that does not involve liquid.

You will see in the photos the wear this item has. The paint is wearing away on some areas and you will see some scratch marks as well. The glass face is in good condition and the words and numbers are too.

This would be a great item to have in your office or man cave surrounding other nautical items.

History of Company

In 1812 John Lilley founded John Lilley and Son in London as an optician and nautical instrument maker. In 1885 John Wilson Gillie founded Wilson & Gillie in North Shields as chart agents and magnetic compass and nautical instrument makers. In 1913 the two companies merged, and in 1943 were renamed John Lilley & Gillie Ltd. They are still producing premium nautical instruments to this day.
