This Vintage 24 Hour Military Brass Clock is a salvaged piece of nautical history. Although this clock holds significant historical value, it is in need of substantial maintenance. The mechanism requires replacement, and the clock face, made of plastic, is heavily scratched. Nevertheless, the clock features both 1-12 and 13-23 for easy recognition of military time. As a result, we are offering it for sale as-is.
The 24 hour military standard, which was first adopted by the United States Navy in 1920 and later by the United States Army on July 1, 1942, operates on a 24-hour clock, commonly referred to as military time, to avoid confusion between a.m. and p.m. hours. The military requires this system as it operates around the clock, with personnel carrying out duties at all hours of the day and night.
