Description
This Amber Glass Cast Brass Wall Light once guided crew through ship passageways. We salvaged it from a decommissioned vessel overseas and restored it for modern use.
To begin, we soda-blasted the paint to reveal the original brass. Then, we rewired it using UL-listed parts to meet today’s electrical standards. As a result, this fixture is safe for both residential and commercial installations.
Historically, amber navigation lights signaled towing operations. These lights were placed at the front of a towing vessel or on the vessel being towed. Because of that function, this piece holds both character and purpose.
Key Features
- Solid cast brass construction with amber glass globe
- Fully rewired and ready for installation
- Salvaged from a working maritime vessel
- Suitable for residential or commercial settings
- Traditionally used for a towing signal on the water
Today, it works well in hallways, entryways, or porches. You can also use it in coastal homes, bars, or nautical-themed spaces for a touch of maritime history.
Wiring
This light has been rewired with all new UL-Listed parts, including a medium base socket and ground wire, rated for any voltage under 250 volts. We recommend using a standard base LED bulb / LED Edison bulb, which allows you to choose the bulb’s brightness to match your lighting area.
The wiring exits the light via the back of the wall mount. Access the socket by spinning off the threaded brass cage and removing the glass globe.
