Description

This Vintage Koito Solid Brass Oil Lantern comes from Minato-Ku, Tokyo, Japan, and originally served aboard a working vessel. Because of its heavy solid brass construction, this lantern handled harsh marine environments with ease. It also features a thick clear Fresnel glass lens that helped improve visibility during nighttime operation.
The lantern retains its original maritime character with visible patina, surface wear, and age-related markings throughout the brass body. In addition, the original brass plaques remain attached and display the model information, manufacture date, and operating instructions.
The thick outer Fresnel lens remains in very good condition. To access the oil reserve, simply remove the side nuts and lift the outer housing. As a result, routine servicing stays simple and practical.
Today, this lantern makes an excellent display piece for nautical collections, lake houses, restaurants, offices, and coastal interiors. Moreover, it looks great on fireplace mantels, shelves, bars, and entryway tables where its vintage marine character stands out.
