This is a Vintage Galvanized Blue Fresnel Glass Oil Lantern that was once painted green. The oil canister and the wick can be removed from the bottom of the lantern. They used lanterns on ships to keep the flame protected during high winds or storms.
On the one side, you will see the stack were the smoke would come out. The top part of this lantern has a fancy-looking lid and an intricate design around the top part below the lid. The blue fresnel glass is in great condition.
This lantern is light enough so you can display it by hanging it! A great piece to add to your nautical collection.
This item is being sold on consignment for a private collector from Cleveland. Every item has been well-preserved due to the owner’s deep love of nautical history. You’ll find some very interesting pieces in this collection – items that might not be found anywhere on the Internet!
