Description

This vintage Polaris ship clock came from a marine radio room. Ship crews once used it to track mandatory radio silence periods. It was built in Yantai, China, and designed for practical onboard use. The dial shows both 12-hour and 24-hour time formats.

Red sectors between 3–4 and 9–10 mark three-minute radio silence intervals. These sections helped crew members monitor distress frequencies. Because of this unique function, the clock stands out as a piece of Cold War-era equipment.

The housing is solid brass with natural patina from age and use. In contrast, the glass face remains clean and clear, with no cracks or major scratches.

Right now, the clock does not stay running. It worked briefly but stopped after a short time. Therefore, it suits someone who can repair clocks or wants a decorative nautical piece.

The face includes the Polaris logo and Chinese text that reads “Polaris” and “Yantai, China.” Altogether, this clock adds character and history to any maritime collection.
