Description
This vintage ship bell came off the CSAV LARAQUETE, a cellular container ship that once sailed international routes. The bell is solid brass and features the ship’s name engraved directly on the front. It served as a signal bell on board, and it still produces a strong, clean tone.
The CSAV LARAQUETE sailed under the Compañía Sud Americana de Vapores (CSAV) fleet — one of the oldest shipping companies in South America. As a cellular container vessel, this ship carried stacked freight containers using a vertical slot system. That method changed how cargo moved across the world in the 20th century. Because of its role, this bell reflects both industrial and maritime history.
Over the years, the bell picked up a natural patina along with a few tiny pinhole dings — small signs of its time at sea. However, the clapper still hangs securely and works as it should. You can hang it for display, or keep it as a functional nautical piece.
If you’re into collecting real maritime gear or want a piece that tells a story, this bell does the job. Its condition, clear engraving, and working sound make it a standout among vintage ship bells.
