Description
This Cold War Era Russian Submarine Clock, dated February 1987, is a genuine artifact from the Soviet Navy. Built for use aboard submarines, it reflects Cold War history and military-grade construction. When wound, the clock ticks and the hands move. However, since it hasn’t been tested for time accuracy or long-term performance, it is being sold as-is.
Inside the hinged front cover, you’ll find a stamped manufacturing date from 1987. The case is made entirely of stainless steel. It shows visible signs of use, including small dents and surface wear, adding to its authentic military look.
Designed for Submarines and Naval Use
During the 1980s, clocks like this were standard equipment on Soviet submarines and ships. These timepieces featured mechanical wind-up movements, bold numerals for visibility, and locking hinged covers to keep them secure under rough conditions.
Winding Instructions (For Reference)
While the clock does run when wound, we haven’t tested it beyond that. Here’s how to operate it:
-
Insert the winding key into the side slot and unlock the cover
-
Open the hinged lid to access the mechanism
-
Use the key to wind the clock
-
When fully wound, it was designed to run for up to 8 days
A Strong Display Piece for Collectors
Whether you’re into Cold War memorabilia or naval history, this Cold War era Russian Submarine Clock makes a great addition. Even if it’s not fully functional, it holds real historical and visual value.
