Description
This Water Tank Indicator by Ashton Valve Co. is a rare find. First advertised in their 1928 trade catalog, this accurately measures liquid levels in tanks or wells. It differs from standard dial pressure gauges in that it displays head pressure in inches or feet of water column. This makes it ideal for storage tanks, standpipes, and similar applications. I could not find a single other water tank indicator listed anywhere on the internet, nor pictured. This is truly, a great American maritime piece.
The Ashton Valve Company, founded in Boston in 1871, specialized in steam gauges, safety valves, and air gauges for railroads and locomotives. The company operated until 1948, merging with the Crosby Steam Gage and Valve Co.
This gauge is in excellent cosmetic condition, making it perfect for collectors or industrial antique enthusiasts. The working conditions are unknown; however, it makes for a great display or conversation piece.
