Description

This is a rare piece of American manufacturing history, being produced between 1881 and 1889 in Chicago, Illinois. The first that manufactured this pressure gauge was Henry A. Bogardus & Co. Henry bought out the interest of his partner, Wells, in 1881 and continued doing business under his own name. In 1889, his brother bought out his interest and renamed the company to H.D. Bogardus & Co.

Named the “trident” gauge, this was installed in Kewanee, Illinois at the Kewanee Water Supply Co. The Kewanee Water Supply Company was only named this from the years between 1905 and 1922. It is likely they purchased the gauge after they changed names in 1905, buying old stock from H.D. Bogardus.
