Vintage Red Glass Ship Light – Rewired Brass Ceiling Fixture

This Red Glass Ship Light came from a ship wrecking yard and retains the character of its working life at sea. Built from heavy brass and fitted with a deep red glass globe, this fixture was originally designed for marine service. The body still displays its original specification plate marked “9000-S6401-74218 REV. 5” and “50 WATT SYMBOL.” These markings help preserve its maritime history.

We rewired this light for modern use and added a 6-inch diameter adapter plate for easier installation. As a result, it can be mounted in both indoor and outdoor settings. The brass housing shows an aged patina from years of service. In addition, the red glass creates a classic nautical look. The glass may also show light scratches and signs of use consistent with its age.

Because of its industrial design and marine origins, this fixture works well in coastal homes, lake houses, restaurants, bars, and offices. It can be mounted on a ceiling, wall, or covered outdoor area. It also pairs well with salvaged ship lighting, brass nautical antiques, and other maritime décor.

Unlike modern reproductions, this light served aboard a working vessel. Therefore, it offers both functional lighting and a direct connection to maritime history.

Wiring:

We rewired this light with new, UL-listed parts, including a medium-base socket and ground wire. It works with any voltage under 250 volts. Pair it with a standard base LED or LED Edison bulb to match your desired brightness.
