This is a post mounted light by Russell & Stoll that has been converted to a hanging pendant light for residential and commercial use. This type of light is perfect for hanging indoors or outdoors, in bars, entry ways, or any high ceiling room.
Russell & Stoll were a large manufacturing company out of New York in the 1900s, that described themselves as “Water-proof, vapor-proof devices for Industrial and Marine Service”. There isn’t much online about the company but they appear to have been purchased at some point by an umbrella company, now selling high grade electrical components under the brand name Russellstoll.
This vintage nautical hanging pendant light is about 17 inches tall measuring from the bottom of the cage to the top of the hanging loop. There is 4 feet of chain at the top, which can be shortened or lengthened. We will need to charge a little bit more for extra chain to cover our expenses. The brass rain cap measures 12 1/2 inches in diameter. The light weighs about 27 pounds.
These nautical lights have been totally rewired with all UL-Listed wiring and a porcelain bulb holder. They can take a normal screw in house bulb of 100 watts or less. The new wiring includes a ground wire and exits the light from the center of the light. The new wiring is rated to work with any voltage under 250 volts.

Big Ship Salvage scours the world for nautical antique lights, décor and other items related to the Nautical Life. Brass, copper, stainless steel and sometimes aluminum materials are used to make-up the vintage lights that we find. We soda-blast the old paint off, remove the old wiring and polish before they arrive in our warehouse. Then, we rewire with UL listed bulb sockets and wiring harnesses and get ready for purchase. They are now ready to warm your home, business or restaurant with that nautical feeling we all desire.
