This is a Vintage Red Fresnel Lens Running Light! Navigation running lights alert other vessels of your positioning. The red indicates the port side of a boat. The green light indicates the starboard side. The white is seen from all angles typically mounted on the stern. They are required when away from the dock between sunset and sunrise and during periods of restricted visibility. This particular navigation light is white running light.
This running light is made out of brass. As you can see from the photos it is very antique, vintage-looking, and has some rust showing in some areas. Also, it has been painted a long time ago and the paint is chipping off. The red glass only goes halfway around.
It’s a wonderful piece for someone that likes the nautical, vintage look!
