This is an authentic salvaged brass nautical hanging light with quite a bit of weathering. These rare nautical hanging lights are also known as foxlights. The nautical hanging lights are salvaged from ships where they were used as cargo or deck lights.
From the top of the ceiling flange to the base of the light, this light measures about 31 inches tall. The wide end measures 17 1/2 inches in diameter and the undamaged glass lens measures about 14 1/4 inches in diameter. The ceiling mount plate is 6 inches in diameter and has 4 mount holes. The brass down rod is 12 inches long. The light weighs about 16 pounds.
Totally rewired! We installed a UL-Listed porcelain bulb socket that takes a normal screw-in house bulb of 100 watts or less. The new wiring, including a ground wire, exits the top of the light from the center of the ceiling flange.
The model P9-30: salvaged brass nautical hanging light is photographed and listed individually due to differences in surface characteristics.
Big Ship Salvage scours the world for nautical antique lights, décor and other items related to the Nautical Life. Brass, copper, stainless steel and sometimes aluminum materials are used to make-up the vintage lights that we find. We soda-blast the old paint off, remove the old wiring and polish before they arrive in our warehouse. Then, we rewire with UL listed bulb sockets and wiring harnesses and get ready for purchase. They are now ready to warm your home, business or restaurant with that nautical feeling we all desire.
