Here is a clean, but weathered looking, authentic oil burning lamp. You can’t find this look at Home Depot or Lowes! With the top handle in the up position as shown, this lamp is 24 inches tall. Fold the handle down, and it now stands just 20 1/2 inches tall. Most of the housing is made of galvanized iron with the top vent cover made of copper. This authentic oil burning lamp weighs just over 15 pounds. Most of the outside surfaces of this light have been clear coated. The 360 degree fresnel glass globe is in very good condition, but can use a little additional cleaning. The top section of the housing flips open to give easy access to the oil burner area but there is no oil burner in this lamp.
The front badge reads “Ankerlight”. It’s just a fancy way of telling you it was designed to be an anchor light!
An anchor light’s use is to be up high on the boat or ship’s mast while it is being moored. The anchor light throws out a white light in a complete 360 degree circle so that it can be seen from any direction.
This authentic oil burning lamp was recovered from a salvage yard operation. This light has some minor dents, dings, and scrapes that are not totally visible in the attached photos. The housing does not show any signs of rusting through.

I found this three piece set of vintage oil burning lights together at the shipyard, but I am not 100% sure if they were made by the same maker. The center light has the makers’ mark “Ahlemann and Schlatter Breman”. The left and right hand side lights do not have a makers’ mark, but they may have been made by “Luz De Navegaco BB”.
These three vintage oil burning lights are about 19 1/2 inches tall each. The left and right lights are made to fit into a corner. Measuring from the point of the corner back to the curved front, each measures 11 inches deep. As you look at them from the front, they are 13 inches wide. The fresnel glass is clear, but there are red and green inserts on the inside that makes them look red and green. The inserts can be removed and they are clear in color. The center light has a flat back, and measures 9 1/2 inches wide. The glass lenses are in very good condition but need some cleaning up. The oil burners look complete but have not been tested for working condition or leaks. You may need to replace the wicks and/or do some additional cleaning to them if you want to burn them.
The main housing of these lights is made of galvanized iron and the top covers are all three made of copper. The lights have surface rust and have been clear coated. The center light has some rust through on one corner on the bottom side (see photos). The right and left hand lights have no rusting through. The center light is missing part of the latch that holds the back access door closed. These lights may have some minor dents, dings, and scrapes that are not totally visible in the attached photos.
