This is a beautiful set of two Port and Starboard navigation lights. A pair of red and green navigation lights is an iconic item in the nautical community. They weigh about 3 1/2 pounds each. They measure 8 1/2 inches tall from the tip of the cage to the top of the wall mount, and will extend out from the wall by 6 inches. The wall mounts on each light measure 2 7/8 inches wide by about 3 1/2 inches long. It has 3 holes for mounting to a surface.
The red and green glass globes are in great shape, with only a small amount of surface ware. The brass housing may show signs of ware and tare but could be easily polished up.
Navigation lights alert other vessels of your positioning. The red indicates port side of a boat. The green light indicates starboard side. The white is seen from all angles typically mounted on the stern.
These lights are re-wired, including a ground wire. The wiring and bulb sockets are UL-listed and rated to work under 250 volts. The wiring exits the light via the back of the wall mount. The new bulb fixtures take a medium base bulb of 75 watts or less. Access the bulb fixture by spinning off the threaded brass cage and removing the glass globe.
Big Ship Salvage scours the world for nautical antique lights, décor and other items related to the Nautical Life. Brass, copper, stainless steel and sometimes aluminum materials are used to make-up the vintage lights that we find. We soda-blast the old paint off, remove the old wiring and polish before they arrive in our warehouse. Then, we rewire with UL listed bulb sockets and wiring harnesses and get ready for purchase. They are now ready to warm your home, business or restaurant with that nautical feeling we all desire.
