Vintage Brass Ship Propeller
1 In Stock
A lot of people have been looking for solid brass maritime ship propellers. The old ones are not easy to find, but Big Ship Salvage has them!! This vintage brass ship propeller measures about 16 inches from one blade to the opposite. And it measures 8 1/2 inches from the center of the hub to the outside edges of the blades. The hub is 1 7/8 inches in diameter. This vintage brass ship propeller weighs about 10 pounds.
Simply speaking, an actual maritime propeller is made up of sections of helicoidal surfaces which act together ‘screwing’ through the water (hence the common reference to marine propellers as “screws”). Three, four, or five blades are most common in marine propellers, although designs which are intended to operate at reduced noise will have more blades. The blades are attached to a boss (hub), which should be as small as the needs of strength allow – with fixed-pitch propellers the blades and boss are usually a single casting.
You will be shipped the vintage brass ship propeller shown in the photos.
