Weathered Great Lakes Life Ring

This Weathered Great Lakes Kinsman Independent Life Buoy is a stunning piece of Great Lakes history. The ship now known as the Kinsman Independent was first built in 1952 to serve as a steel carrying vessel on the Great Lakes. After changing hands many times, she began to carry grain in the mid 1980s until the end of her days. This was one of the many vessels owned by George Steinbrenner, famously known for owning the New York Yankees.

This life ring was salvaged from the famous Kinsman Independent in 2002 and we are now offering this item for your personal collection!

This salvaged weathered life ring has a diameter of 30 inches about 7 inches wide by 3 1/2 inches thick. The weight is 5.1 pounds. These life buoys were used with quick release for self-activated lights and smoke signals.

This life ring is being sold in unrestored original condition. The original grab line and cloth beckets are missing. It has only been wiped down for the photos.
