This Vintage Fairless Life Vest was salvaged from Benjamin F. Fairless Steel Great Lakes bulk freighter. It was built in Lorain OH by American Ship Building Co. and launched on April 25, 1942. This is life preserver was produced by Jim-Buoy out of North Hollywood, California. It is a unicellular plastic foam life preserver. The marked on top of is “FAIRLESS”. It is an adult Model no. 601, this style is no longer deemed safe for use according to this public notice on the Jim Buoy site. It is 23 inches long, 11.5 inches wide, and 3 inches thick. The weight is 1 pound.

This life vest is being sold in as-found condition.
