Description
This salvaged nautical life ring came from the bulk carrier MV Silver Road, a vessel built in 2002 with its home port in Jeju, South Korea. The ring still carries the ship marking “M.V. Silver Road JEJU,” which remains visible across the front. Pieces like this were mounted on ships for emergency flotation and quick deployment overboard.
The life ring shows clear signs of long service at sea. The orange paint is cracked and chipped in several areas, exposing the wear that comes from marine use. Reflective tape bands are still present but heavily worn. A sticker near one of the reflector strips indicates approval for use in March 2002, confirming that this piece is at least 24 years old.
The original perimeter rope is still attached. The rope appears to be tied into the reflective bands as part of the original setup, though it is loosening in some areas due to age. These details show the life ring’s real working history rather than a decorative reproduction.
Salvaged maritime safety gear like this is often used as wall decor in coastal homes, restaurants, and marine-themed spaces. The ship name and visible wear give the piece character while also preserving its connection to a working vessel.
Because this is a salvaged item, the condition reflects its time in service. Please review all photos closely to see the paint wear, tape condition, and rope attachment points.
