Salvaged Life Ring from Cargo Ship Hong Source – Kingstown

This salvaged life ring came from the general cargo ship Hong Source, built in 1994. The ship’s home port was Kingstown, which is marked on the ring. Interestingly, the word “Kingstown” is misspelled on both sides, adding a small but noticeable detail that reflects the working history of the vessel.

The life ring is painted in standard marine safety orange. The paint shows wear with some areas chipping off from years of use at sea. The reflective tape bands are still intact and remain firmly attached. The rope around the ring appears to be the original line. It shows some fraying and traces of orange paint from contact with the ring over time.

This is a heavier ring compared to many decorative versions, weighing about 13 lbs. It was built for real shipboard safety use and has the solid feel of marine equipment designed to withstand harsh conditions.
