Description
This Osaka Tamaya nautical sextant is a salvaged maritime instrument built from aluminum and brass. Much of the original black paint has worn away from heavy use at sea. The arc includes two engravings: the serial number 775447 and the maker’s mark OSAKA TAMAYA, confirming its Japanese origin.
While this sextant no longer functions for navigation, it offers strong visual and historical value. It served as a working tool aboard a ship and now makes a great display piece for collectors or maritime-themed spaces.
The cord near the adjustment knob is no longer attached. The overall condition shows clear signs of age and use, giving it an authentic, weathered appearance.
Features:
- Engraved markings: “OSAKA TAMAYA” and serial number “775447” on the arc
- Built to last: Aluminum body with solid brass arc and fittings
- Aged and worn: Paint loss and missing cord reflect long-term use
- Display-ready: A genuine navigation tool for collectors or decor
