Solid Brass Nautical Engine Order Telegraph – Durkee Marine, Staten Island NY
Description
This solid brass nautical engine order telegraph comes from Durkee Marine Products Corporation in Staten Island, New York. The handles still move freely and trigger the original chime. Both glass faces remain intact and clear, showing the full dial with classic telegraph commands like Stop, Stand By, Dead Slow, Slow, Half, Full, and Finished With Engine.
You can still see some internal parts through the side glass panel. Areas of paint residue remain on the brass — a common feature on working ships where crew members painted over brass to avoid constant polishing. The piece shows signs of real ship use, with natural patina, surface scratches, and a few small dents.
It’s heavy, solid, and built to last — a real piece of working marine hardware. Whether you collect ship antiques or want a standout display item, this EOT brings the real thing.
