Description

This Cassens & Plath sextant was made in Bremerhaven, Germany, and comes with its original calibration certificate dated February 17, 1977. Cassens & Plath built high-quality marine navigation tools, and this one reflects the craftsmanship of their post-war era production. The certificate remains mounted inside the lid of the wood storage box.

The brass arc shows the engravings “Cassens and Plath” on one end and “Germany” on the other. The sextant shows some paint wear from use, but it’s still in fair physical condition. We haven’t tested the instrument, so its working condition is unknown.

The original wooden case has wear, especially on the bottom, but remains solid. A leather handle on the front allows for easier carrying. The lid features a metal plaque stamped “SEXTANT.” You’ll also find two original keys, although they no longer operate the lock.

Features:

  • Original calibration certificate dated February 17, 1977
  • Brass arc marked “Cassens and Plath” and “Germany”
  • Wood case with leather carry handle and “SEXTANT” plaque
  • Includes two original keys (not functional)

Collectors and nautical enthusiasts will appreciate this authentic piece of maritime history.
