This John Bruce and Sons Binnacle with Lionel Compass is an interesting piece of nautical salvage on sale today. It appears that the compensating binnacles are missing, as well as the arms they would have rested on. You can see where they would have been attached in one of the pictures. Other than that, the wood is still holding up well, the brass is in good condition and the glass doesn’t have any major scratches/fog issues. This binnacle has been wired for a wall outlet so that it may illuminate the compass contained within.
Base Dimensions: 20.5″ x 20.5″
The Magnetic Compass is a fundamental requirement of every ship as it can function independently of satellite reception and electrical supply. The Compass is mounted to the pedestal with a gimbaled bracket. The compass is fully functional.
