Here is a very nice German compass with box made by W. Ludolph of Hamburg and Bremerhaven. The lid slides off to access the compass and the box is labeled “Spare Magnetic Compass”.
The outside box measures about 15 1/4 inches square and is 7 1/2 inches tall; it weighs just over 45 pounds.
This German magnetic compass is fully functional. The gimbal ring measures about 13 inches in diameter with the compass being 10 1/2 inches in diameter. The compass is brass and has a weathered finish.
You will be shipped this German compass with box shown in the photos.
Big Ship Salvage scours the world for nautical antique lights, décor and other items related to the Nautical Life. Brass, copper, stainless steel and sometimes aluminum materials are used to make-up the vintage lights that we find. We soda-blast the old paint off, remove the old wiring and polish before they arrive in our warehouse. Then, we rewire with UL listed bulb sockets and wiring harnesses and get ready for purchase. They are now ready to warm your home, business or restaurant with that nautical feeling we all desire.
