This fantastic piece is an Authentic Chadburns Liverpool & London Trident Poseidon Engine Order Telegraph. It was manufactured in the United Kingdon sometime between the 1930’s and 1940’s. Telegraphs are used for communication between the bridge or pilothouse and the engine control room. This item is perfect for the collector or as a unique conversation piece.
This solid brass engine order telegraph measures 44 inches tall. The base is about 11 inches wide and has 6 mount holes. It is mounted on an octogon base that measures 15 1/2 inches wide by 4 inches tall. The telegraph has not been weighted yet. The brass housing has been left with its natural patina, leaving the option open for you to polish it if preferred.
To add to its uniquness it is black face marked with white “Chadburns Liverpool & London” surrounding an image of Poseidon holding his trident and riding his chariot which is pulled by hippocampuses (horses that have fish tails). Above the normal telegraph marking appear: Ahead: (Full, Half, Slow, Dead Slow, Stand By), Stop, Astern: (Finished with Engines, Dead Slow, Slow, Half, Full)
The side panel is missing the original oil burner. The telegraph is being sold in as in condition, proper working condition is unknown but could most likely be adjusted to perform 100% functional.
