Description
This salvaged wooden ship’s binnacle is a standout maritime piece, ideal for collectors or nautical-themed spaces. It features classic red and green compensating balls on either side, which were used to correct for magnetic deviation.
The front includes a brass clinometer and a maker’s plate from Cassens & Plath, marked with “Reflecta 1 No 2 3 4 8.” Inside the binnacle, there’s a Nunotani Seiki compass, made in Japan, along with an untested lightbulb. A tube on the rear offers a spot to store rolled nautical charts or maps.
The top is finished with an aluminum cap, while the glass viewport appears to have been removed or replaced — adding a distinct, aged character.
