This Seaman’s Brothers Telegraph was on display for years at the Jacksonville Maritime Museum until it closed in December of 2015. This cast brass example must weigh about 300 pounds. Measuring from the top of the handle to the floor, it stands 49 inches tall. The dual sided head on this unit is 17 inches wide and 15 inches thick.

The handle moves freely with noticeable clicks at each command position. This is an electric telegraph, so unless you figure out the wiring the bell does not ring when the handle is moved.

Both dials on this Seaman’s Brothers Telegraph show signs of wear. I know some of you will disagree with me on this, but if I were to keep this telegraph in my collection, I would remove the dials and have them remade in plexiglass with red or black vinyl lettering. Yea, it would no longer be 100% original, but I like the dials to be readable.

This Seaman’s Brothers Telegraph has no dates on it, but I would say it is late 1940’s or early 1950’s. This telegraph s being sold in as found condition. The as found condition includes lose or missing paint over that nice historic brass telegraph.

I travel to many shows up and down the east coast of the US. If you are not in a hurry for delivery, it is possible that you could buy this unit today and schedule a time to met me while I am traveling to a show. Or, we can crate it and ship this unit by common carrier. This is not shippable via our normal FedEx Ground free shipping due the excessive weight.
