We started out with a reclaimed original nautical ceiling light.  Once the original light was polished, we fitted it with an 8 inch wide polished brass deflector cover.  On the back of the light, there is a conduit box with two holes on either side where the light attached to the ships electrical system.  The original conduit holes were then fitted with threaded brass plugs.  This ceiling light will extend down from the ceiling about 8 3/4 inches. Total weight is just over 7  pounds. This light fixture will require a mounting surface that is at least 6 3/4 inches by 5 1/2 inches.

The brass ships engine room light was then totally rewired with UL-Listed wiring with a ground wire and bulb holder that is rated for any voltage under 250 volts. The new bulb holder takes a common house bulb of 65 watts or less. To access the bulb, the brass cage and glass globe spin off freely to reveal the bulb area.
