This is a vintage Chris Craft Forward Hatch Cover from a pleasure boat. Pleasure boats were very popular in the 1950’s and Chris Craft was deemed top of the line!
Forward hatch covers are typically located on the bow of the boat with access to the cabin underneath. This Vintage Chris Craft Hatch weighs just about 21 pounds. The outside of wood the frame measures 21 inches. The glass measures 13 inches. On the back, the raised brass flange measures 20 1/2 inches.
The closure dogs on this Chris Craft hatch work and the window opens freely. There is handle between the dogs for ease opening and closing. The original glass has minor surface scratches. There is a metal grill around the hatch cover glass with three chrome plated brass bars across to protect form shattering. The chrome plated brass surface has some minor wear and corrosion.
This Vintage Chris Craft Hatch Cover will clean up nicely for use on your boat or as is for a nice decorative piece. It was been left in as is condition when removed from a Chris Craft boat being cut up for scrap.
