Great Lakes Ship Porthole – 23″ Aluminum with Storm Cover

It’s not often that we’re able to offer authentic Great Lakes nautical salvage – so when we can, we don’t pass up the opportunity often! For instance, check out this 23″ porthole that we purchased from the family member of a local marine repair company. The company was K & C Marine Repair, which operated in The Flats, which for those of you not familiar with it, it’s a downtown riverfront industrial district in Cleveland, Ohio. The business worked with multiple Great Lakes shipping companies while downtown there throughout the 1970s.

The porthole itself was manufactured in Milford, Conn. by Rostand Manufacturing Company. Both dogs to clamp the storm cover are present while one of the clamps to secure the window is missing. This does not prevent the porthole from staying close though – one dog has enough bark for this to stay put.

This is a heavy unit, coming in at 33 lbs. The glass diameter is 18″. With the dogs, this has a height of 7″
