This is a vintage Nippon Sento starboard double Fresnel lens navigation light – green side Masthead light, salvaged from a once working vessel. Navigation lights are an iconic item in the nautical community. Red and green side lights are required when away from the dock between sunset and sunrise and periods of restricted visibility. This particular navigation light is a green side light. It would be located on the on side of the bow 112.5 degree visibility.
It is Japanese made in the 1980’s by the Nippon Sento Co. Ltd. Nippon Sento Co. Ltd. is a marine supplier that has been providing lighting equipment for ships and airports since 1936.
This double stacked light is made of solid brass and copper. It measures 17.50 inches tall by 11 inches long (including the metal sticking out of the sides) and 8.5 inches wide. The base measures 9 inches by 9.5 inches including the mount leg, it has 1 mount hole. The green Fresnel lens are in good condition, with minor chips and scratched. Each Fresnel lens is 5.5 inches high. This double light weights 10.8 pounds.
We have re-wired all This Navigation light with all new UL-Listed wiring and two new bulb holders. The new sockets are rated to work with any voltage under 250 volts. The bulb holders uses a medium base bulb of 75 watts or less. To access the bulb fixtures, merely turn the screws in the top and bottom of the light and lift the lids. The original cap on the bottom was replaced.
