This a Koito brass and copper oil lantern with a red Fresnel lens. This lantern is in excellent condition. It was made in Tokyo, Japan by the Koito Manufacturing Co. This company was founded in 1915. The Company’s line of business includes manufacturing automotive lighting equipment, aircraft parts and other electrical equipment to this day.
Outside on the base are instructions on how to fill the reservoir with kerosene. This oil lantern is made of Brass, Copper and Glass. The glass on the outside is a thick Red Fresnel lens. Inside the lantern is a clear glass globe. It is in perfect condition with no chips or cracks. The oil reserve is accessed by unlatching the hinges on each side of the base and lifting the outer housing. There is a small brass cone shape nodule to unscrew so you can fill the lantern.
This lantern would look great sitting anywhere. Especially on a desk or plug into a wall for a light on your end table.
You can have this lantern hard wired so you can use it as a desk lamp or to plug it into any wall for extra lighting.
