Product Description
You are looking at the Vintage Dressel Railroad Lantern. The Dressel Railway Lamp Works was established in 1882 but was eventually incorporated in 1922. Railroad operators used colored globe lanterns for illumination and signaling at night.
This lantern has two red and two blue lights. The blue light is used to signal a train to pick up train orders, or to mark equipment that was being worked on and wasn’t to be moved. The red light meant stop or danger.
On this lantern you will see the name Dressel and Arlington, N.J. -USA. That is were this lantern was produced.
If you are a collector of anything that deals with the railroad then this item is for you!
