Check out our Vintage Aluminum Gas Lantern with Red Fresnel Glass. First introduced in the 1800s, lanterns like this mounted on the port side of ships. The red light played a crucial role in navigation during low visibility.
The word PORT appears near the top, confirming its purpose. A rubber tube runs from the side and connects to the gas regulator inside. The red Fresnel glass remains in good condition. The lantern shows chipped aluminum paint, surface rust, and no top cap.
This piece works well as a display on a mantle, in an office, or as coastal décor for a beach house.
