This is a Vintage H L Piper Not Under Command Light With 360 Degree Fresnel Lens! H. L. Piper supplied nautical and railroad lighting from 1902 to the 1990s.
Navigation lights alert other vessels of your positioning. They are required when away from the dock between sunset and sunrise and periods of restricted visibility. This particular navigation light is a NUC Not Under Command light. A NUC light is required during a vessel which through some exceptional circumstances is unable to maneuver as required, such as drifting.
This single stack light is made of brass and copper. It would be a wonderful piece to sit on an entry way table or even someone’s desk!
Height: 16″ (including the brass loop nuts)
Fresnel Lens: 7″ tall
Weight: 22.3 lbs.
We have wired this light out of the original conduit hole. We have re-wired this light with a new UL-Listed porcelain socket and wiring (including a ground wire). The new socket is rated to work with any voltage under 250 volts. The bulb holder uses a medium base bulb of 75 watts or less. To access the interior, you can easily loosen two of the looped nuts then lift.
