The Bahraini flag represents the country’s history, culture, and aspirations. It has a red background, which symbolizes the Kharijite Muslim sect that formerly ruled Bahrain, and a white section on the left side, which represents the Bani Utbah tribe, the island’s original inhabitants. The five white triangles on the left side of the flag represent the five pillars of Islam, while the serrated line separating the red and white sections signifies the waterways that surround Bahrain. On February 14, 2002, the flag was officially hoisted after Bahrain became a kingdom. Since then, the flag has become a significant source of national pride, frequently displayed at public buildings, national events, and other occasions. Overall, the Bahraini flag reflects the country’s rich cultural heritage and its deep connections with Islam, the sea, and its indigenous peoples.
