Vintage Liberia Ship Flag

This authentic Vintage Liberia Ship Flag once flew aboard a working vessel and remains in the same condition in which we recovered it. We have not washed the flag, allowing it to retain the wear, markings, and character it developed during service at sea.

Liberia’s flag draws inspiration from the flag of the United States but includes several unique elements that reflect the nation’s history. The eleven red and white stripes represent the eleven signers of Liberia’s Declaration of Independence in 1847. The red stripes symbolize courage, while the white stripes represent moral integrity and justice. In the upper corner, a single white star stands for Liberia as Africa’s first independent republic. Meanwhile, the blue field symbolizes the African continent.

Liberia has one of the world’s largest ship registries, and vessels from many countries operate under the Liberian flag.
