Description
This is a salvaged Victor nautical signal flag, measuring 47″ x 39″. It features the red “X” pattern that represents the letter “V” in the international maritime signal code. In this system, the Victor flag signals “I require assistance.”
The flag remains in original, unwashed condition, so it shows heavy dirt and wear from real ship use. Most notably, the heaviest buildup appears along the top edge on both sides where the rope runs through. Because of this, you can clearly see the effects of long-term exposure to marine conditions. However, the fabric still holds together well, and the colors remain visible despite the wear.
It has two plastic grommets for hanging, and it still a tag with “V” marking near the edge. While the flag has not been cleaned or restored, it remains a solid display piece with clear maritime history.
Because this Victor nautical signal flag came from a working vessel, it reflects actual use at sea rather than reproduction. As a result, it works well for display in a nautical space or as part of a signal flag collection.
