Nautical Signal Flag, Letter “D” Delta

This vintage Letter D nautical flag, also known as the Delta flag, comes from a salvaged maritime collection. It features a blue and yellow split design and measures 40″ x 32″. The flag is made from durable vinyl and shows visible dirt and wear from real ship use.

You can see the word “Delta” written in black marker along the white header. This marking reflects how crews identified flags during handling. Instead of metal grommets, the flag uses a rope sewn through the white edge for hoisting. The rope shows fraying, which is consistent with service at sea.

In the International Code of Signals, the Letter D flag means, “Keep clear of me; I am maneuvering with difficulty.” Ships used this signal to alert nearby vessels when safe distance was required.
