Handmade Hong Kong Flag Flote – Tote with Rope Handles

This handmade Flote turns an old Hong Kong ship flag into a useful nautical tote. The red and white design shows parts of the flag’s bauhinia flower.

Each Flote takes several hours to complete. First, the flag is cleaned and measured. Next, each pattern is cut by hand. Reinforced seams also help the bag hold up during regular use.

Inside, the red and white flag pattern continues throughout the bag. A 6.5-inch-deep zipper pocket keeps small items safe and easy to find.

Thick white rope handles pass through metal rings and have a 13-inch drop. The tote measures about 19 inches wide by 13 inches deep.

As a result, this roomy bag works well for beach trips, boating, travel, shopping, or daily errands. Because the flag served aboard a ship, it may show signs of wear. However, these marks help preserve its maritime history.
