Product Description

This is a Vintage TAMAYA And CO Marine Sextant. With its accuracy and usability, this sextant has won the trust of many trainees and navigators around the world.

A sextant is a doubly reflecting navigation instrument that measures the angular distance between two visible objects.

This Tamaya Sextant is in a mahogany box.  The sextant has an index mirror, a telescope, an Alidade (index arm), a graduated arc, a quick-release clamp, a micrometer drum, a set of three hinged shades, a horizon mirror, a set of four hinged shades, a screwed cap(for battery), index mirror adjusting screw, and two horizon mirror adjusting screws. You will also find keys in the box as well.

On the graduated arc you will see the words TAMAYA & CO., LTD NO. 29657 with their symbol. Also, PAT number 816705 will be on the other end of the arc. Under the index arm, you will find a rubber area that has TAMAYA TOKYO on it. Inside the lid, you will find a blue and white sticker that has some Japanese words and the number 336929 on it.  Lastly, on the telescope, you will find their logo and the numbers 7 X 50 7*

This would be a wonderful piece of nautical history to set around in your office, den, or with your other nautical items!
