Description
This aneroid barometer was manufactured in 1985 in Yokohama Japan by Utsuki Keiki Co. LTD. Barometers were useful instruments for sailors to have on hand – especially in the early days of their creation. When a barometer observes a drastic drop in pressure, it’s usually a good sign that storms are coming. Some paint means on the glass face along with the brass near the glass. Sailors would have painted brass while on board a ship in order to avoid polishing it consistently. There is a thick aluminum base on which the brass body for the barometer sits.
The serial number is 8632.
Please note: this barometer has not been tested but does not appear to function.
