Description
This vintage ship barometer measures atmospheric pressure and helps track weather changes. Ships commonly used instruments like this to monitor conditions at sea. When pressure drops, it often points to incoming storms. On the other hand, rising pressure usually means improving weather.
This piece has an aluminum housing with a simple, functional design. The face measures 6 inches in diameter and sits behind a clear glass cover. The glass remains in great condition with no cracks or scratches. However, the body shows some wear from age and marine use.
The dial displays pressure readings along with German terms. For example, “Tief” indicates low pressure and is often linked to unsettled weather. In contrast, “Hoch” marks high pressure and typically signals fair conditions. Between the two, “Normal” shows standard atmospheric range.
You’ll find the “Sundo” mark on the dial, tying it to practical marine use. The barometer weighs about 2.5 lbs, so it stays easy to handle and mount on a wall. Please note, the working condition remains unknown and has not been tested.
Features:
- Aluminum housing with visible wear from age
- 6″ diameter face with clear, undamaged glass
- Marked “Sundo” with German pressure indicators
- Wall-mounted marine barometer (untested working condition)
