This is a vintage reproduction of an US Navy diving helmet. It is a full scale vintage replica dating back to the 1950’s. Copper dive helmets date back to the 1820’s. They were first produced by the brothers Charles and John Deane. Over the years many styles have come out. In 1916 the US Navy decided to standardize their equipment all to the same model: The Mark V.
The solid brass and copper helmet weights: 18.5 pounds, authentic helmets start at a whopping 65 pounds. It is 18 inches tall, 18 inches wide by 18 inches wide at it widest point. The housing is made of brass and copper with glass inlays under the brass cages. It features 4 viewing holes, helmet rivets, and replica latches.
