Description
This vintage rotary foghorn follows the Norwegian Pattern design and comes from England. Crews on small vessels used this model to send loud warnings during fog or low visibility. By turning the crank, they created a sharp mechanical tone that helped avoid collisions. Before electronics, this type of tool played a vital role in shipboard safety.
The horn sits inside a stained pine wood case. Over time, the case developed cracks, scratches, and visible wear. Although the horn no longer works, it still includes the original hand crank, a leather strap handle, and part of the instruction label. This item is being sold as is.
On one side of the box, you’ll find raised lettering that reads: “NORWEGIAN PATTERN,” “Made in England,” and “Rotary Foghorn.” Because of its original details, this piece works well as a display item. It could also be a rewarding project for someone interested in restoration.
